The NMAIA 2024 Invitational Challenge

The New Mexico Artificial Intelligence Academy’s 2024 Invitational Challenge is an opportunity for New Mexican high school students to learn the basics of machine learning and artificial intelligence through a deeply engaging project where they will build and program 1:10th scale self-driving race car. After an initial workshop where the students will build their car and become familiar with the car’s computer interface, the students will receive lectures and personalized educational content for 10 weeks. During this time, students will be guided through the full machine learning process from data collection and labeling, to training, and finally deployment of the AI pilot for their self-driving race car. Each team will share the data they collect and participate in the learning community presenting their progress. At the end of the season each team will create their own unique challenging track to demonstrate their progress developing an AI pilot for their racer.
